During my artist residency in Tampere, Finland, I created a series of works inspired by the Finnish Midsummer tradition of gathering seven different wildflowers. Each day, I collected and observed flowers from the surrounding landscape. Their forms and impressions developed into drawings, prints, and sculptures made using kanshitsu, a traditional Japanese lacquer technique using layers of hemp cloth and urushi lacquer. These sculptures are not only meant to be seen, but also to be held and touched. Through their weight in the hand, their uneven surfaces, shapes, and the texture of lacquer, the works invite a physical and sensory experience. By touching the sculptures, viewers can encounter the works in a way that goes beyond sight, creating their own sensations and memories through direct contact. The works explore the relationship between nature, touch, memory, and the traces of a place.

フィンランド・タンペレでのアーティスト・イン・レジデンスでは、夏至の夜に7種類の野の花を摘むというフィンランドの伝承から着想を得て、作品を制作しました。 滞在中、身近な自然の中で出会った花々を採集し、観察しながら、その形や印象をドローイングや版画、そして日本の伝統的な漆の技法である「乾漆」による彫刻へと展開しました。 これらの彫刻は、見るだけでなく、実際に手に取り、触れることのできる作品です。 手のひらに伝わる重さや形、表面の凹凸、漆の質感。触れるという身体的な体験を通して、視覚だけでは得られない感覚や記憶へとつながっていきます。 この作品では、自然、触覚、記憶、そしてその土地に残る痕跡の関係を探っています。 この文章なら、フィンランドのページの最初に置いて、その下に制作過程→ドローイング→乾漆作品→展示風景と写真を続けると、とてもまとまりがいいです。
